i went to joann's with a 40% off coupon to get material for a gift for one of the zillion weddings i am attending.
i wanted linen, and there's gobs and gobs of ugly pseudo-linen with goofy eyelet and embroidery and spangles. finally i found real linen, full price, but i had my coupon and all was well.
i'm standing at the cutting table, staring at my fabric, absorbed in the lovely color. i love the color. it's not teal, and i'm feeling all successful because i keep buying teal stuff and i'm trying to stop myself but it's hard. the fabric is kind of a mellow turquoise. not too deep. i'm thinking it's a good color that other people will like too, and it's neutral, for a color, and even kind of unusual. and it's not a color that i always always buy.
then i look down at my cardigan. and my flip-flops.
the exact fucking shade.
it's a sickness!
i have THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. i think i'm expanding my horizons by choosing something in a slightly different shade of bluegreen/teal etc, but it's usually the same shit. that's why i can't go to american apparel anymore. i'll think, wait, i have that! oh no, that's dark aqua! i have turquoise. totally different. but not.
if you find the antidote, let me know.

i totally go through color phases, too. i've been attracted to everything purple since it started getting warm, and that's never been a color i've been crazy about before. i even bought a shirt one day and absolutely loved it and realized as soon as i got home that it was the exact same shade as another shirt i had bought not too long ago. i kept it anyway.
ps i love when you update!

Yay purple shirts! I just went to the Zara in Seoul and bought a bright purple going out shirt. :-)
Anne: Loving teal/turquoise is okay. It is the best color for clothes that there is, no doubt about it. I wish people over here wore more colors...here it's all about black, white, beige, gray. Ugh, gross!
